Hi gang - So it was a hop, skip, and a very long and wet almost 500 miles to get here .Why you ask? Yes, in D1 there is a National event going on but somehow this made more sense .Two races - one weekend .....OK, so it's more than a weekend but I was hungry for some of their $1 ice cream --- and i'll have more to spend on it as for some reason the Lucas races are less expensive here in D3 - who knew?

I must admit it's been about a decade since I've last been here but time hasn't hurt this track one bit -- in fact it's nicer than I remember .That and I was greeted by the owner on the way in - nice touch indeed .Mr.Bader had his best TV smile on as I went by .

And then i'm told I wasn't the only D1 stranger in the house- and somehow i'll get around to see how many other D1 guys are in the house - Billy Nees is here along with Bobby Bender who is still on his National tour .

Since most of my peeps are in Virginia any or all of you D3 boys and girls are welcome to jump in and keep everyone informed as to what's happening here.........later .

Afternoon - Both Stock and S/S got a Q run in - that said not a Q sheet to be found on the grounds but i'll keep looking as the place is packed with stock and s/s - a great many from D1 .We were to get another Q run but it's raining ( and NO I didn't bring it with me from D1 as some have already suggested ) - this is the second time it's rained today .

Last time I was there was for Hot Rod's Drag Week. The track was supposed to open at 7:00 and it did, exactly. Mr. Bader was there to greet us as well.

Best run track I have ever attended.

So after a search I finally found them ......along with that the Sun has come out and we'll resume in about a half hour or so .

We're shut down for the night ---Why you ask ? Big time storm coming - batten down the hatches mates .Rain / wind / hail -- you name it .Resume qualifying 8am tomorrow .Stock got their 2nd q run before they shut down .

Good morning kids - Well we made it thru last evenings storm - winds in the beginning rocked our RV - rained a good part of the night then came sunshine this AM - they dried the track and were 10 minutes away from starting when the rain came again .Good news is this afternoon its to clear up and we can get going.When we do they are to start where we left off with qualifying to completion - then start with round one of everything .

Kudo's to Mr.Bader who came on the PA and radio last evening during the storrm just to try and calm everyone down by letting everyone know that the worst part of tornado watch was past and we'd be OK .

Starting to rain really,really hard ............

Rained most of the afternoon. Done for today. Nice evening with some sun to hopefully help dry the unpaved areas.

Good morning members and guests - Even at this early hour (6:05) the Summit crew are out and running heavy equipment to dry the track and get things ready for our 8 AM start and at this time I see no reason why that won't happen .We'll go right back to where we left off with Q runs first and go right into first rounds .

Me ?? Tough night after an OD on that free ice cream ......

Good morning - So for me it's on to race #2 after joining the 'round 1 losers club' - a very not like me super early red-light .


Even though we ran late yesterday we are now well behind and it will take most of today to finish the first race - hopefully the weather holds out .Track officials are doing their best to keep things moving - good news is we've not had a lot of oil downs and on track incidents .

While here the aging Mr.Billy Nees put on a small seminar to show he still has the 'stuff' it takes to do whatever needed to race at this level .Between Q runs his Powerglide decided to stop working well .That said I asked where his spare was and was told 'why'?? And then calmly said he could fix his and went on to take it out ( and without a trans jack I might add) and proceeded to take it apart and 'ham and egg' it back together.With some help from friends they lifted it back in place (again with no jack- just muscle) and made the next Q run .Billy proved once again he's got some years left .......

This event has to be uncomfortable, I see 77 degree dew point forecasted on Sunday 12 noon.

Somehow I don't think that fits this case at all --- that little chevy carries a 307 v8 with an extremely small 2 barrel .......

Good morning everyone - Brite and early start this morning - 8 AM S/STR went out followed by Stock and even at that hour it was already ugly -3710 DA - 29.20 Barometer -86 degrees 1.091 correction factor - well you get it .One noticeable thing here this weekend - two Lucas events and no Juniors - I always thought they were at everyone - that and yesterday was a regional Alcohol race and today is not .Just when I thought I knew everything ...LOL .

I gotta cool off for round 2 .......later .
