Live from Lebanon Valley NHRA Lucas Oil Series

Good morning everyone - today is day 1 and it was to be test n tune from 11 to 5 pm but remember where we are - yep, it's raining ! ! ! Good news is it's to stop early this afternoon and after a quick track dry we'll get going .

Entries are a bit light at this point but there is still plenty of time (and pit space ) - if you're on the fence saddle up .

Always nice to see the New England crowd ..........later

So the rains rolled in and quickly left and after some quick drying time we got back to test n tune - a good three hours or so --- then we got the dreaded news on the PA - pack up quick it's coming back and it did - then they called it for the day .

Tomorrow we'll start at 8:30 sharp with Superstreet and then Stock .

I've got a ton of pics but the Internet isn't letting me get them downloaded - that plus I'm not sure if it's also my laptop that making it worse - I'll work on it more...........

I believe Dave Smith posted a little over 450 entries for the event without the juniors included, LVD is always a tricky track to predict car counts because they are spread just about everywhere and yes internet is horrible at that place unless you stand near the tower

Its so nice to here Alans voice like a breath of fresh air. I wish the NHRA would come their senses and make a contract for Alan. On the other side the coin Alan probably likes picking and choosing where he works also.

Somebody might want to tell "the best there is" that it's bar-SAME-e-en ..
Massafra...the accent's on the second syllable .
Have to forgive him though. He's from Arizona ;-)

The Carpetbagger was at LV, the first time I ever went there, and that's a long, long time ago.

I did NOT intend to " like? this post. I fat fingered the ?quote? button. I sure wish I could undo it.

What the heck are you even taking about here? Your post makes no sense and appears to poke at Alan.

The black and orange Dakota in post #5 - was that part of the McCormack fleet back in the day? I vaguely remember it being a 4 cylinder (?) combo back then. Fun to see it resurface!

The Dakota was an original " body in white " from Mopar , it was for sale in Ohio last year minus motor and trans and had a lot of good parts including an 8 3/4 rear . I don't know if it was part of the McCormack team or not originally. Its great to see it back out there racing as part of the Howes team of fast Mopars . Running H/SA I am guessing its a 5.9 / 360 Magnum combo , it was available from the factory that way as part of the R/T package. One of the McCormack Dakotas is still being raced in Stock in Division 3 by Steve Dziomy. He was recently runner / up the Norwalk Points meet . I have always liked that generation of Dakotas.

Good morning members and guests - And yippeeeee it's finally race day . After everyone gets one last Q run or time trial we'll head into eliminations this afternoon and all classes will get round one behind them .

This morning has us being just a wee bit nippy as the temp is at 53 at this moment but is to rise all the way up to around 80 by the time we go to rd 1 .That plus it's like they say - sunshine and blue skies all day .

Sorry but still having downloading issues - the Internet and my laptop can't seem to get on the same page .........But i'll get it fixed - got me a young whippersnapper ( not sure if that is really a word) college guy trying to help me fix things.

Later .........

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley NHRA Lucas Oil Series

So I wasn't going to write this little diddy but like a lot of you I'm tired of spending time trying to figure out what the right way is to slow my car down and frankly I'm sick of it ! ! I started racing more than five decades ago and it was always about finding out how to go faster - now it's just the opposite .Now it's take out fuel - add weight - take out timing - all things I don't want to do anymore .So by now some of you think I've gone nuts ....

Here's an interesting stat - during the second round of Stock qualifying there were 85 cars - 50 percent - yes half of the entrants stayed between the .65 and .85 under the index to keep their average down .That my friends was no accident ........

I'll listen to any and all ideas on how to fix this ..........

Carpetbagger - The 55 Nomad has been around forever. I believe it ran F/MP at one time. Just so you all know, I love that car.

Jack you could go fast and make your stuff junk. The race I look forward to is No AHFS Indy in FS/D. The rest of the year is tip toeing to keep the average down. The good thing about my combination is only four cars like mine run the class.

Good morning boys and girls - Well we got a break this AM and started at 9 - both Stock and S/S got rd 2 in and then they made a rotation change and skipped us both for a round .

So we'll give you a look at the weather - it's mid eighties and climbing fast - plenty of humidity and a 29 thirty something barometer - most are slowing up 3 to 6 hundredths and next round will surely be worse .

Happy Fourth --- forgot yesterday ..........

As I understand it, the Howes' Dakota was originally built in or around 1998 when a batch (5 or 6) of them were constructed for class racing. It may have been the McCormacks who built them, but not sure. Truck wasn't finished, was in storage and changed hands a couple of times. The Howes bought it last year worked on it over the winter and just brought it out. Mark's son Colton is wheeling it. It is a 360 Magnum in H/SA.

I want to see Stephen Dzorny's truck in person again as I think it was another of that batch.

OK guys, Steven Dziorny’s truck was raced by his grandmother ….Judy McCormack. Steven’s mother , Jennifer McCormack , also has a truck but has not raced in years …..

Re: Live from Lebanon Valley NHRA Lucas Oil Series

So we stopped at a rest area just inside New Jersey for some well deserved rest .Yes, it was hot at Lebanon but then it was hot in very many places on the East coast over the holiday weekend - guess my point is the entry level was not bad with over 400 cars but I noticed many racers and families that didn't make the trip .

One of the biggest reasons might be the traction situation - but this year was different - even with the track temps yesterday in the 130's and the Sun shining bright I saw very little problems - whatever they started to do this year worked .And we should be glad ! We paid for a good track and got it .Keep that in mind when planning for next year .....
