On our local radio stations here in Mo they have been advertising the IHRA like crazy and there isn't even a race around here anywhere. Very cool! Just do not hear that anymore on the radio so they are def trying !

Milan Dragway was also listed as Darana Dragway on their tech trailer since reopening. Seems like a trend...

First I've heard of it MJ. Anybody know if IHRA owns a track dryer? Their gonna need it. If they don't bring one, our Ohio intermittent raindrops will easily kill an entire day.

It seems that Darryl Cuttell, the IHRA owner, also owns/operates this "Darana" company:

Here is the detailed run schedule for National Trails/Columbus/Darana/Hebron for anyone interested!

On site reporting only 15 trailers as of Tues PM.There is still a lot of asphalt paving going on (not on the track itself), No cars testing right now

Just got off the phone with Andy Kronenbitter. I'll try to relay all this and not screw it up
1) They are currently, and have all week, been paving the hot car staging lanes (The ones that run in front of the pit side bleachers) so the pros have a non-pothole surface to tow their cars. All the blacktop pits have been resealed and painted.
2) ALL new lighting in the pits, complete with a wi-fi transponder on every light pole. Lighting goes all the way back in the grass areas all the way to the woods gate. No log on needed, open it and it says "IHRA Have a good race" or something as such.
3) Six brand new Semis and trailers have been unloaded with all new golf cars, scooters, and equipment.... Which include brand new track dryers. The semis are all lettered IHRA logos and signage. Andy noticed the equipment has the tracks name on them, as if when they leave, the equipment doesn't.
4) The Tower has its new IHRA lighted signage, and everything in the place has been painted, Stripes on payment, walls, poles, everything you can think of.
5) The tracks timing system wiring was dug up and all new installed from tower to scoreboards. Even the scales were painted.
Quite frankly Andy is amazed. The kicker,.... as of 5 o'clock tonight when I spoke to him...maybe 20 cars were on the property. He told me he spoke to a few Stocker guys down in the Kil-Kare area (an hour away) if they were coming and they told him nope...

They say all purses are guaranteed. I guess if only one person shows up they are the winner. I was afraid car count would be low but i figured there would be 10 to 20 per sportsman class. Maybe not. Please keep us updated on what is happening

make a run in Q4 tomorrow morning and race

Looks like less than 10 cars in both Stock and Super Stock after Q1. Hopefully some more show up this afternoon / tmw. Makes it hard starting all these races on Wed in my opinion.

Pauley 07-09-2025 10:58 AM

Re: IHRA at Columbus.

for those interested they are streaming it on youtube. search for ihra.tv and you will find it.

i was looking at Q1 and i could be off a little but looks like this

HR 15ish
Stock 9
QR 9
Super Stock 12
SR 14
TS 5
TD 5

They took about an hour to run Q1. That said SGMP looks weak as well for a sports nat and div race.

Again IHRA.tv on youtube for the stream.

Re: IHRA at Columbus.

Just had a car explode on the starting line. Sounded like a bomb. Pray for the driver. Not sure of class, I think Top Sportsman. Horrendous fire, so sad to witness.
The starting line was and is being prepped by Mass traction and its absolutely killer. Found out this morning that your entry comes with 3 crew passes free of charge. Redman is here parking cars. He wanted to relay he does NOT work for IHRA. Yes, he wears their uniforms but is strictly a sub-contractor. He plans to be in Milan, Dragway 42 and the future races. The entry for the races is super smooth. No hiccups whatsoever.

Definitely did not look good, I do not know if he got out before they cut the stream which was a little less than 4 minutes after the explosion. Keeping everyone over there in my thought and prayers.

Here is a clip of the fire. The driver is okay with burns to his hands. This is second hand info, but we think that's all of his injures. Its a miracle he made it out.

That fire was scary to watch. I am so glad that the driver is still alive. I would say that God was watching out for him.

I hate to say this, but I would suggest IHRA invest in some safety and Fire Extinguisher classes before next race, I saw a pic in FB with 3 or 4 semi trucks that said ?safety convoy? in my opinion as a previous firefighter and a racer what I saw in that video was unacceptable to that racer. No im not being an IHRA hater, I would also love to support them someday also, but they need to train their personnel on safety before they kill someone.

Some fire extinguishing agent on the driver earlier in that deal may have been helpful in reducing his injuries. Hard to get up close with the violence of that thing exploding. Don't know if I've ever seen one that ugly.

A legit fire truck, and crew, behind the starting line, in addition to what they have at the bottom of the track, would help with response times. Seems to take the trucks on the bottom end an agonizing amount of time to get to a car that has a crash and/or fire early in the run.

Watching this guy's wife/GF over the wall watching all of this was awful.

Hard to not agree with that....There was two of the starting line people that got burned trying to immediately assist. One was a track regular worker; I was told the guy from mass traction also. I talked to the track worker, he burned his fingertips but continued to help all day.

Prayers for a full recovery for this young man. Please Lord, give the doctors all they need to make him well again. May God provide comfort for his wife during this very difficult situation.

If my 327 wasn't broken i probably would have had my Camaro there in Super Stock. Might try to put something together for later this year or next year.

Re: IHRA at Columbus.

At this race (so far) there are 15 entries in Stock and 21 in Super Stock.

I think it would be interesting to hear the true reasons why the car counts are so low.

The debacle that took place prior to this race?
No class eliminations?
Some went to SGMP?
Not NHRA? (Wally)
Cost of joining IHRA/New #/License?
They are NOT using the current NHRA indexes. (did anyone know that?)

Here's the past 4 years of car counts at the NHRA Sportsnationals.

2024
Stock: 119
Super Stock: 113

2023
Stock: 119
Super Stock: 117

2022
Stock: 139
Super Stock: 103

2021
Stock: 143
Super Stock: 107
