flywheel trans shield
bare with me im new hear:confused:, we bought my son a 1967 camaro stock firewall and floor pan, was looking at the csr trans shield but i have been hearing stories about having trouble getting them to fit trans:eek:
my question is what do you guys use? whats the best way? |
Re: flywheel trans shield
The CSR shield is probably the best for use with a stock floor. The problem is that there are casting bosses around the mounting bell (the area surrounding the torque converter) that have to be gound down for the shield to fit. Then you will also have to modify or relocate the the dipstick tube mounting tab.

Re: flywheel trans shield
Been using a CSI/CSR Super Shield for over 10 years, first on my former Chevelle and now my Firebird, both with a Turbo400. Other than cutting the casting lugs off the bell housing as instructed, I've done no motifications to either shield. What I have done is opened up the holes in the retaining ring one size as well used 12 point bolts, both make the R&R easier.
IMO, there's no better option with a stock trans tunnel and fire wall. |
