NHRA and the "Bo Butner rule"?

Looks like NHRA has taken a stance on racers and their support of politics at NHRA events. How will this end for NHRA?

I can't help but wonder what would've happened if he would've been supporting the other side. Kind of seems like they are messing with 1st amendment rights to me.

To what exactly are you speaking of? I know there was a big to-do about the lack of TV coverage on Bo's car, but have they released something officially and i haven't seen it?

Also, if you look at page 58 in the current National Dragster, theres a picture of the car in question in the Finals.

Some reading for anyone wanting to argue the First Amendment in this situation:

"Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

- - - - -

"MYTH #1: Anyone—even other private citizens—can violate your First Amendment rights.

TRUTH: Often, we hear someone accuse another private citizen of violating his or her First Amendment rights.

If a radio talk show host threatens to cut off a caller, we might hear, “What about my right to free speech? What about my First Amendment rights?” What’s wrong with that question? The First Amendment only applies to government actions. In other words, it protects the citizens from the government. A private organization, like a radio talk show, cannot violate another private citizen’s First Amendment rights."
