302 Ford oil pan
Who makes the best sealing Front sump oil pan for a 302 ford? (67 Mustang) I have a POS made in some other country pan that always leaks no matter what I do. I'm willing to spend good money to fix the problem once and for all.

Re: 302 Ford oil pan
I have the Milodon in the link below on my 68 coupe with a ford Racing 302 block and it is nice and tight. The real trick is to use the best gasket you can find. See the second link.
On my car this is a very tight fit and I have to remove half of the steering linkage to drop the pan. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mi...view/make/ford http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mi...view/make/ford Dale |
Re: 302 Ford oil pan
The pan I have is 7 QTs on it now. I see that is a 5 QT pan. I Wonder if 5 QTs would be enough oil. I have a high volume pump and turn 6500 RPM in the traps.

Re: 302 Ford oil pan
With the RPM you want to run and an upgraded oil pump, the 7 quart pan is the smart choice. Ford Racing uses Champ Pans on its 302 based Circle Track engines - and these have beeen tested and proven to be the best available. For the oil pan gasket, the favorite among many engine builders is the Ford Racing 1 piece M-6710-A50.

Re: 302 Ford oil pan
I use a Moroso 7qt front sump with the kick outs, on both of my SS engines with
no oil problems @ 10k RPM. |

Re: 302 Ford oil pan
Canton seems to do the best job for everything we have seen. We switched to their stuff years ago. No problems even after yanking the pan at the track.
