I like the Altronics PC version and I have the handheld unit also that I take to the lanes with me if I think for some reason we might be there a while. I don't have any experience with any of the others.

I posted a thread asking the same question about two months ago. I'm going with Altronics.

Computech, Randy, they make a nice hand held, great service also.

I like my computech but they don’t pay contingencies at all National events. I think that’s something to consider.

If you have a laptop at the track, I would recommend getting Crew Chief Pro software.
I put the data from the weather station, and use Crew Chief Pro to dial your car. Give it a few qualifying, or testing passes to learn your car. It has been almost deadly for my car.

Has not yet taught to drive. SMH

I also recommend the Altronics PC trailer based system. If you have a lap top then the cost is about the same as the hand held. You can opt for the paging as well and I did not get that option but wish I would have. It can be added later but the cost is a bit higher. Their log book and prediction software is very good and easy to use once you get the hang of it. Its an improvement over a hand held for sure.

I have friend with that. Pages them in the staging lanes if the dial changes.

Ed, What do you mean by "learn your car"? Do you somehow tie a run to the original prediction that crew chief pro made? Or are you just looking for different prediction methods that match your car's actual runs? We are just getting started with the Crew Chief Pro and have a lot to learn.

Thanks
Bob

Crew Chief Pro does not use a multiple run trend to predict the ET. You select a single 'base run' to predict from, and the formulas take care of the rest. As you make more runs, the software does not change at all as far as 'learning' your car.

Now, you can customize the 'factors' used in the prediction formulas and use historical run comparisons to do that. I do data analysis for a living, and have spent a bunch of time creating custom factors. However, it is extremely easy to get lost, and this season I have reverted to using the default prediction factors.

As for weather station, I was shopping a couple years ago and ended up going with the Altalab trailer station with wind and paging. It seemed like that was the top of the line at that time. I haven't regretted my decision to use the Altalab with Crew Chief Pro, but I don't have a basis for comparison to say that it is better or not as good as something else.
