You have your answer, if you have a lot invested in the head, such as a legal class engine or exotic Bracket head,,,,,Indy Cyl Heads is the place and they do some very nice work! Cast Iron or Aluminum, doesn't matter!

thanks for the info guys, do you know a pallpark estimate of how much such work would cost?the heads are just run of the mill merlin heads with no exotic work done at all.

From the ICH web catalog

http://www.indyheads.com/

Quote:

All Aluminum And Cast Iron Heads Can Be Welded & Repaired 200.00 Minimum .

If you can find any welding shops local that "oven weld" cast iron, you can save some bucks......
The welder need not be knowledgeable about cylinder heads, if you can mark and prep the wounded areas, they can be fixed.

You might want to give Garv's Auto Head Repair a call, they are located in Indianapolis, we sent a pretty well damaged 440 head there and the work was very good and reasonable, the phone number is 1-317-784-8458

Only two confirmed kills for the night! :D

Did have a happy gentleman with a shiny new Wally tell me that in 34 years of drag racing he'd never been on any track that was better.
First time at tha 'Hill, but not the last. :)
