light front brakes for the Super 10

*Mark Williams is approx. $1130.00

* Strange is approx. $780.00

* About $350.00 difference between Strange and Mark Williams

* I have Strange rear brakes on the Super 10 and with other buildups Strange has given good service.

* The Super 10 has factory front brakes and I am looking at weight savings.

Any suggestions?

Re: light front brakes for the Super 10

Larry,

I have Strange all the way around on my Mustang. I have tried all kinds of tricks so the front wheels will not drag due to the calipers not retracting the pistons enough. The calipers have been rebuilt, springs have been installed to push the pads away from the rotors. As soon as the brakes are applied, they start dragging again.

I believe this is a common problem with Strange, so I am not sure I would install them over the MW for $350.

BTW glad to hear your first outing went well!

Sean,

Had the same problem, Strange brakes front and rear, the fronts would hold a small amount of residual pressure after pumping the brake pedal. You could crack the bleeders and a small amount of fluid would squirt out and then they would spin free. I swapped the brake lines front to rear and the problem switched to the rear brakes. I changed to a new duplicate size Strange master cylinder and the problem was solved. I disassembled the problem master cylinder but was never able to figure out why it was holding pressure.

Consider Aerospace?

Or Wildwood?

Larry, the Aerospace dual piston setup saved me 30 lbs. over the factory disc brakes on my Nova. The Wilwood stuff is pretty nice, also. -Al

Lamb or MW all the way. I would not even consider another brand.

I junked the Aerospace I had on my car as no matter what we did, the pedal was spongy and brake pressure was terrible. Switched to MW and immediately everything was perfect.

With regard to Strange, my dad had them on a comp car he bought. He went through 3 sets of rotors and 2 sets of calipers on the car before finally giving up and going to MW. He even tried the new stuff Strange had out there and it was junk also. Installed the MW rotors and MW calipers and instantly he has brake pressure and the pads retract.

No reason to save $350 on brakes.

I have the Aerospace on my car. They work perfect and no drag. Price is good and good customer service if you need parts or pads. I went with them because they are local to me and I have been happy with the product.

There's a reason why Lamb is more expensive. They are well worth the money. No guessing.

Re: light front brakes for the Super 10

It's quite simple , Lamb is the absolute best, followed by Mark Williams,Strange,Wilwood and then Aerospace. Steve Decker suggested I put Lamb on my car, I hated to spend the $$ but I am sooooo glad I did. Results may vary. Let your conscience be your guide. As a side note, you would never see a Stocker hit the wall when we were only allowed Factory brakes ....HUH ...?...? M.J.

Lamb is the best. Wilwood ranks above Strange in my book. There stuff may not seem as "racey", but the quality and availability is much better, and their tech staff is super savvy.

Are all these parts made differently from each other or are they coming from same manufacture and being re-labeled? Always had Wildwood and never looked or checked others to see the differences.

My experience with Aerospace products is they may not be as "refined" in finish as others, but the parts work as intended. I have had zero problems with function and see no need to spend more money for no gain that I can tell.

Call Mike P. at MPR, he has good prices on MW brakes and parts. Lower priced than Lamb, but very high quality.

I didn't see an S-10 kit on the list from Lamb. I think they may be the same kit as an 82-92 Camaro but not sure. Either way you more than likely have to ship your spindles to Lamb for modification which adds $75 to the kit price.

I put Aerosace brakes on my Firebird five years ago. Zero problems with drag, or anything else. Stop great. I don't know what more expensive brakes could do any better.

if you have a vette yes, other than that no. plus the way they are designed they wont fit much of anything but the vette control arms.
