How Much ET is there in Suspension Set up?

I was wondering how much ET could be gained (or lost) in a car that DOES NOT spin, but also does not run the ET based on the horsepower made?

Traditional 4 Link Suspension
Not a lot of horsepower (560HP/450TQ)

(Super Stock build)

Looking to make the car 60 foot much better than it does not, however, it doesn't spin as it is. Just lazy.

Thanks,

JP

JP, my experience shows in order to achieve the best ET for a given power the car must really get with it off the line. Converter [or clutch] gearing, tires, suspension, shocks, engine combination, the whole package is important.

"Lazy" will not produce the desired results.

Post all the specs of your combo, you may receive some suggestions.

Here it is off the top of my head!

2002 Camaro
3310 lb with driver (GTFA)
327/275(299 adjusted) (Heads up heads/intake/Boburka q-jet)
1.98 PG
5900 Stall 8in Converter
6.00 Rear gear
3073R 31.25/12.2R15W Mickey Thompson Radials (100 inch circumference)
4 Link rear suspension
QA1 Single adjustable front shocks

It has went 10.68 at 125.71 only 60 footing 1.46-1.47 not spinning a lick. The front end is as loose as it goes and it probably lifts the wheels 6-10 inches after full separation.

I feel as if the MPH is decent and the motor was just on the dyno to confirm that it has enough power to go much quicker than what it has.

What am I missing?

Is there a half second of ET in chassis tuning?

Converter?

I know everything is not optimum but I feel like with what I have, I should be closer to the ballpark than this.

Any help on four link bar adjustments, spring rates, suggestions, etc. would be very helpful.

Thanks,

JP

JP,

Betting you are going to hear "more converter" from those with a good amount of knowledge on that type combo...

A lot more converter I am guessing. 7" and 7000 is just a guess?

Good luck with it.

As posted above, 7" converter flashing to 7000 - 7100 shifting at about 8600 - 8700. There could be .25 ET or more in the converter.

Once you have the converter then a fine tuning of everything to attain the last bits of performance.

Looser converter and more rear gear. I assume you are using a trans brake. Loosen the valve lash to .035 on the intake. More air in the tires until it spins a bit. Tighten the front shocks.

I would also suggest more low gear with the power glide. Like a 2.08.

Of course an high $ 3 speed would help a bunch also with your combo.

You should be .10-.14 quicker in 60'.
