NHRA tech or lack thereof

I guess stockers can relocate shock mounts now? This is a pretty obvious thing for NHRA tech to miss...

I guess they weren't straight up and down?

How about on the wrong side of the spring?

Sad, I have a recent pic of a traditional SS with coil over conversion on the front? Who can you contact in NHRA for clarification of tech questions? I have had no luck on the couple I have sent. My questions had nothing to do about the above observation.

Can you mount the shock in the stock location with Caltracs?
What does NHRA do on cars where the shocks were mounted differently depending on horsepower, like staggered shocks on high HP Mustangs vs same side of housing with low HP Mustangs?

Have seen a bunch of cruise night cars with these installed to fit big tires on them.

I ask NHRA this spring if I could move my shocks to the front of the axel because of wheelie bar installation that got in the way. I was told no! After a lot of work I did get them to nearly stock position.

Just remember most of the tech guys are basically volunteers and get paid very little to do what the do. You can always protest someone if you see something that is illegal by the rules. Who Knows maybe tech caught the infraction and told the guy to have it fixed by the next race. You can always ask the owner of the car about an item such as this as well. I doubt that shock placement is helping the car run any faster.

You should ask somebody how that affects shock ratio.

I actually ran my car with out the shocks on the rear one weekend. One of the shock mount broke on the trip to the track. I took both shocks off of the rear of the car. There was no difference in performance or handling. I was really surprised at that. It was a stick combo at that time
