Building new car

OK, I'm in the process of a complete new build something that I've wanted to do for years but need help with the class. Building a 1961 corvette all standard stuff like chrome molly gage, 9" rear, 4-link, g-force 4-speed. Here is the kicker for class in super stock, building a 454 and a (427 backup) 700hp engine, tunnel ram , (2) 650 carbs, and a hood scoop. I ran ss/pa in my 69 z28 Camaro for several years. What class guys?????

Sounds like a modified class in Super Stock. Check the rule book

SS/AM. This class is 7.50 lbs per inch, which means your min. weight with the 454 (465") would be 3485 lbs. That is alot of weight to manage. Consider a shorter stroke on the crank to reduce your cubes. Like 420" is 3150 lbs. Also 700 hp is too low, shoot for 1000 hp. Cool build, all the best.

The index for SS/AM is 9.00. At 3150 lbs. You would need 825 hp just to run the index. If you made 1000 hp you could run 8.50's.
