Hi Eddie. 63 Corvette huh? Before I retired a couple years back, my boss had a 63 that his dad bought him as a High School graduation present. He bitched because it was white. Never liked the guy. Spoiled little brat and it showed in everything he did. It was a 327/350 with blue interior. His dad was a barber ( I didn't know they made so much money ! ) and he bought a new 65 or 66 Pontiac Catalina 421 tri power convertible 4 speed. Light yellow with a white top and interior. They still have both these cars. Both are completely original and unrestored.
Mark, Chrissie Hynde's Pretenders lived in Ohio. At least she did. Akron Canton area. Remember this song ? In this song, she talks of Seneca lake. When we were kids our parents would take us up there. That place had big snakes ! LOL
BTW, this CD "Live in LA" is a awesome 5.1 record concert and sounds killer on a good system. I play the heck out of it here at the house ....

Wish I could say the same, my Dad always told me that I could have anything that I wanted if I worked for it. I was delivering parts for NAPA and I went by a body shop in Lake Havasu. The owner had the Vette and told me it was abandoned and he wanted his parts and labor for repair on the space between the lights and the hood. The car had no engine, transmission or title. I gave him $900 for it. I used the car for my project in college (Industrial Ed. Major). Within two years I completed it, applied for an abandon title (AZ). Pulled the built sheet from above the gas tank and found it had been a fuel injected model. From past experience, I went with a 780 Holly. Had it repainted a GM Midnight Blue, it was a clean car. But it caused me more heartburn then I needed, I used to get stopped at the front gate of Camp Lejeune for drugs, a PFC with a Vette, you got to be selling drugs. So they would run the dogs through the car on a regular basis. I got orders to State Department and sold it to a gal from Anderson, IN.

Jeff, Loved the song, even before Rush L used it for his intro... I believe it was the flip side to Back on the Chain Gang ..It was there on lots of juke boxes in the 80's.
Chrissy came to an agreement to let Rush use it. She recently said that her dad was an avid listener, so that was part of the reason she allowed it.

This song has meaning to me, as when I grew up here, it was just a "bump in the road", now a lot of fancy houses where there were farms, and people from other places that brought their troubles and problems with them. Sad to me. John Kissel

Eddie and Mark .VERY GOOD CHOICES. Never had seen that live concert. I'll have to look into picking up a copy and see how its mixed. That reminded me of a Styx concert that was recorded with the Cleveland Youth Orchestra. One of my favorite live concerts. When Tommy Shaw got off the plane in Cleveland he was kind of ho-hum about this deal. But when he met the youth group, he was blown away. All those kids new every note, every word of all their albums. He just could not get over it. He said it was the most fun he had in his entire life ...

I just made up a new rule..Two-fer Tuesdays allowed ;-)

The Moody Blues were finally inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame in 2018

Their critics claimed they recorded with a symphony orchestra , but so what? So did Procol Harum , even The Beatles.

They had already proved they could do psychedelic stuff, plus Justin Hayward showed he could play R&R lead guitar with the best of them.. Anyway, they're in now!

1550 views. Somebody's rockin ! I missed two fer Tuesday ... Crap . I notice Mark and others seem to like the 70's super groups. I'll go back to the 70's but a little deeper. Nobody ( except maybe Mark) remembers a band called Spooky Tooth. You either liked them, or hated them. Their keyboard player, some guy named Gary Wright, went out on his own. His first self titled Album called "Dream Weaver" had a huge hit called the same name. Thing was,the entire album....drums, guitar, organ, bass ect., was produced on his synthesizer. At the time I thought it was really cool, but now it's way too common for bands to do all the work digitally. Here is a cut off the same album...

One of my faves from the early 70's was the Moody's album" Every Good Boy Deserves Favour".The first letters in the title (EGBDF) are the strings of a guitar. The story in your eyes was a great track from the album with the line,"from the ashes we can build another day!"...gsa612

The reason I remember this stuff, is at my day job i got to listen to the radio alot and got my music education from Scott Muni on 102.7 WNEW=FM. From time to time he would have Elton John on to play Ejay the D.J. and you would hear alot of different music and groups. John Kissel

John, Actually they are the letters on a G clef or mnemonic scale of 5 lines.
Banjos have 5 strings..guitars, 6 Think of them as " Eddie Ate Dynamite Goodbye Eddie" EADGBE ;-)
BTW , BADGE by Cream, is the chord progression in that song.

Eddie, Procol Harum was chuck full of future greats.Their lead guitar player went on to stardom with his buddy James Dewar singing in Robin Trower.. Always liked his voice and of course Robins rifs. Dewar died of cancer and Robin has since tried moving to other singers, but I just don't like Robin without James singing...

Robin Trower, I have "Bridge of Sighs" and "BLT" somewhere around the house. One of the greats.

Meanwhile...

" Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We are part of the fire that is burning

And the sunshine we've been waiting for

I have been blessed to have see some of my favorites in recent year. The summer concert series in Tahoe has been great with Frampton, James Taylor, Paul Simon. Steve Miller, Christ Stapleton. I have see Clapton three times over the years, my favorite was Clapton at the National Soccer Stadium in Santiago, Chile (family). Six rows back center, sister-in-law got those tickets. Saw the Eagles in Vegas at the MGM Grand. I have been lucky to see them all. Oh Stevie Winwood at Pechanga in Temecula and Fleetwood Mac at the Hollywood Bowl. Just lucky.

Speaking of concerts.Sue and I had tickets to see Kansas in December. 2nd row back, mid section, in a small theater that seats 1700. covid screwed us out of that.Damn..Three original members are still in the band. I hear they do one heck of a job.I played Leftoverture to death when it came out. Still one of my favorites. Keyboard on this song is addictive ....

For Jeff and any other prog. rock fans.

The Strawberry Hill Boys were an acoustic , bluegrass group in the UK, late 60's

Shorter name and several styles later, we come to the title song from their 1974 album:

(There is a newer , acoustic version of this song on YT, so they are still at it.)

Mark, I wasn't the Strawbs fan in this family, my wife ! had all their stuff when I met her. There are still some of their albums in our collection.

I'm going to change directions and go a little country. I bet this is a surprise. I'm kind of a sucker to Bonnie Raitt types and female singers.
I guarantee you, if you listen to this ( modern) song by Jewel, you will listen to it a second time. It's that good. Plus she's hot ....I like the break @ 2.23 mark where she takes it up a notch ...

I don't know how to post a video here so will just comment. Have enjoyed reading thru this thread. Classic rock helped me get thru high school in the late 70's. Well then it was just rock. That's really all I listen to. Am a big Boston, Rush, Foreigner. Who, Stones fanatic. Do like a lot of the groups not so popular like Alan Parsons, The Gods, Truimph. I watch Rick Beato's "What makes this song great" videos as well. I don't usually like covers but if done well its at least something different. One cover band I do like is the Lexington Lab Band. They are on You Tube as well. They do many different covers. They have a core band and have different vocalists come in and sing. Some of the songs are better than the original group does it. Not a Bad Co fan really but they do them really well. My favorite video they do is the Warrior. Amanda's voice is golden. Do check them out.

Welcome ! .... To post a video it's quite simple.Simply find the video you like on u tube. Of course downsize your class racer and open up a browser of you choice like (Chrome ect...)
1) Type in "Alan Parsons U tube", all the selections will come up.
2) Click on the video arrow to start the song playing the song of your choice.... while its playing, right click on your mouse. The second choice in your drop-down box will be "Copy video URL" ... Left click it...
3) Simply go back and upsize class racer and in your post, paste as you normally would. ( Right click to bring up box, select "Paste" with your left mouse. You will see all letters and numbers, but when you post it will load the video... simple

I can't believe someone on here likes the Godz. Wow man, I listened to those guys in all the surrounding bars A LOT ! They played here couple times a month for several years. The lead guitar player quit and went with Bob Segers band and they were never quite the same. Last summer, the bass player and lead singer was scheduled for a reunion gig here in town and he died the night before of bladder cancer and the concert was cancelled.. I'm gonna play this tune just for you. Its a song about climbing on a Harley, no sure destination, and just driving west. Mark Chatfield is one heck of a guitar player, and this song has a several minute solo that's is just over the top cool ... Enjoy !
