Battery / cutoff switch??

I have to be missing something? 79 Malibu stocker, rewired with a digital delay switch panel and circuit board. Got everything wired up the way the instructions show and everything works great.......problem..........circuit board draws power straight from battery, no way to kill power to system to prevent battery drain. Battery up front with no master cutoff switch, really hate to have 30' cable from front-back-front of car for a push/pull switch. Any ideas??

How about a toggle switch on the dash between the battery and the circuit board?
Maybe I'm missing something here. It sure has happened before.

Circuit board load is 75 amps, that's my problem lol. I will figure out something out just wondering if anybody else came across this

jamie2370, my 1981 Malibu had cutoff switch mounted on battery under hood. Tom

I just went back and read the rules. I agree with Tom. Since it isn't required you can put it anywhere you want. Never dreamed about the 75 amp deal. Blows my toggle switch idea away.

Jamie,

I suggest you call Digital Delay. They are very helpful and easy to work with. They may have an easy solution.

I use a simple disconnect mounted to the battery.
It's legal and cheap.

75AMPS??? How are you coming up with a 75AMP load? Are you worried about a battery drain while parked? What is drawing current with everything off?

Re: Battery / cutoff switch??

Eman, that is what the total board load is according to digital delay. Wasn't sure if I installed a cutoff under hood if it was legal. As far as power drain, board is lit up, engine start button is lit up and dial board is on(could change that one).

Jamie,

If you want to cut the constant power that supplies your main switch panel when you shut off the car you could wire in a continuous 12V on relay inline to your 75 amp panel feed circuit. Available on e-bay cheap/ they are solenoids typically used on electric golf carts We use higher amperage ones to isolate the 2nd battery on stockers that run one battery in the trunk and one up front. Not sure I would to count on one to supply everything, I'd probably put in a big circuit breaker for short protection to my main panel.
