Stripping Weight Vs Adding Weight Stock Eliminator

Im new to all this so a amateur question. Im assuming its typically advantageous to hit weight breaks by adding weight so you have ballast to experiment with in the car. Exactly how much class jumping can you typically do in regards to weight ? In other words

- Whats the most one can safely rely on when stripping weight from a car while still being stock eliminator class legal ?

- How much will people typically add in weight to drop a class or two ?

That depends too much on the combination and the Class.

Weight is but one factor on building a stocker, you have to look at issued horspower, weightbreak, classes allowed to run, other combo's in class, other people running your combo. adding weight is easier than taking out; example, said combo has a weightbreak of 26.00 and is a v8, to be competitive, you need to be at 20.00 so you need to remove lets say 800 lbs, hate to say it ain't gonna happen. Rules as per weight are you can remove to move up or down a class. Could be 100 lbs, could be 300 lbs. If you can't remove enough to get to faster class, remove enough to be at top of natural class. And remember, run 10 to 20 lbs heavy due to scale difference.
