how to ID a Pro55 cam core
Racers,
what is the way to know for sure a cam is ground on the Pro55 core? Not that I doubt the cam company, that is not the issue. But if an unknown cam is laying on a table, how would you tell? The P-55 cam I had actually had P-55 cast into it.

Alan is correct,
after looking at a number of flat tappet cams, the one I knew for sure that is a Pro 55 core, did in fact have a 55 cast into the cam. None of the other cams I examined had the 55 number. The one I just had actually had "P 55" cast on the core of the cam itself. I do not know who ground it, it was not well marked, so I actually had to plot the thing in the engine.
The Comp "Pro Core" 4-7 swap cam did not say Pro Core or P 55, or anything else on it, but the core itself was a good bit larger in diameter. Alan Roehrich Bring "AA" classes to NHRA Stock Eliminator! |
