It seems that they lifted the fines on oil downs for the pros, they still take points away, but no more money. How is it that they wont fine a team that gets their money from Castrol and Budweiser, but they will still fine the sportsman racer that has to take time off from work and use their savings money to go racing?

Good point, but to me the "enhancement" of a bigger purse to the pro's ,that are corporately funded is a bigger smack in the face of all sportsman racers. That 1.3 million the NHRA just "found" could have upped payouts considerably at our level so you may not have to runner-up to break even...now is the time for the Sportsman Council to make some noise

I'll bring it up.....

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
Thanx Rock, keep this example in mind when you bring this up...let's say you attend 5 divisionals and 3 nationals to claim points...you go 5 rounds at each...you will finish most likely in top 3 in your div. and top 10 in the nation...and your $ payout will just about cover entries and race gas..the whole round money/contingency system needs work...thanx again

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
If you did finish top 10 in National points you get the gold card for the following year.
Now that is worth $ BUCKS $ if you race much the following year. Much more than the round money!!!! My 2 Cents |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
The Gold Card certainly is a nice perk, but if you think about it, it's really not worth ALL that much money. If you were to go to 10 National & 12 Division / Opens, that only equates to about $4,500 in entry fees. There aren't that many sportsman racers in the country that go to that many races.
In contrast, the fuel cost to go to 10 National & 12 Division / Opens would be far greater (at least double). So, if you win a Gold Card you're caught between a rock and a hard place. You want to use it because you have it, but you have to spend more money in gas to get to the race and back than it would have cost you to pay for car and driver entry. Now, don't get me wrong. I certainly won't turn down the Gold Card if and when it is ever offered to me. But IMHO it is silly to chase points simply to get yourself a Gold Card. I would MUCH rather see the payout increased for sportsman racers across the board. I know I can't be the only one that's lost in the Semis and felt like I was kicked in the nuts (and that's not unique to NHRA either, as IHRA is the same way). |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
I think the Gold Card is only for the National Champ and the 7 Division Champs.
The Top 10 Nationally get a silver card, which is good for nationals only. |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
How about a fuel credit card for the top 10, LOL. Would be nice though.
|
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
Now THAT would be worth chasing points over!

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
I already suggested that....a fuel card is the ticket.....
the purse additions likely came from Coke...so unless somebody puts up the money for the sportsman purse increase...its not likely to happen.... cbs |
