Timing in Super Stock

Few questions for your super stock guys

Main questions are,,,,

-In my opinion i would only run a belt drive but with some medical issues in the way its not possible so with that kind if spring pressure and rpm can i get by with an SA gear or Cloyes billet timing chain set with the adjustable cam gear with 6 bolts in it like a belt drive ? I know i tell customers no as i dont suggest it, i dont suggest it because i have not tried too with that much rpm and spring pressure

-now days with the newer port designs of today what is a popular 327 automatic camshaft for super stock 327/300 flat top engine ? Still 278/286 ish on a 104 lobe center

-have any of you super stock guys used Milodons main studs in the past few months ? Reason i ask is i will probally use Milodon main caps and studs, have used them many times in the past but didnt know if anybody has used them lately with the changing economy

-has anybody in drag racing tried a set of Schoenfeld headers ?
http://www.schoenfeldheaders.com/street_stock.htm
For a 70-81 camaro, chevelle/monte carlo 64-77, 75-79 nova prices as follows
1 3/4" $179.95
1 3/4" stepped to 1 7/8" $259.95
1 7/8" $299.95

I know circle track guys (dirt) that use them because of the cheaper pricing and tearing up headers alot. I also know a guy that tested three pair of headers on the dyno, circle track engine, and these headers made more power than the other two brands i have used for years and many drag racers have used for years

Thanks in advance for the help

Re: Timing in Super Stock

I have ran right at 1k lbs. open pressure with a Cloyes true roller chain and gears. No problems after around 100 runs. As with all round turning components check for runout on cam and crank gears as I have seen huge variations in recent years. Both billet and standard.
