PG &TH350 tailshaft bushings

Anyone know of a vender who still has babbet type tailshaft bushings for PG and 350?....All the venders I deal with are selling the bronze type which always are undersize on the bore if you have a good unworn yoke and have to be honed to fit......I've got about two dozen from different sources and all are the same. .....Tom

these may work for you. lots of other sizes are available from other sources. Bearing suppliers call them DU bushings.

Just an FYI and you may be aware of this but the yokes are also made oversize and under size from std.
That is especially the case when you try to use a yoke made for a roller bearing on a bushing tail shaft.
There is a difference in size from the bushing to the roller bearing on the ID.

Yes I am aware ,Actually the roller diameter yoke will fit these bushings as it has a smaller O.D....This is with the normal standard yoke. ......I normally do about 8 to 10 glides a month, most using the non roller tail. ....Bill, thanks for the link ,I'm going to check that out. .......This is more of an annoiance than a major problem, but the babbet bearings were also more forgiving for wear on the yoke. ....Tom

Hey Tom, I've got a Hughes Perf. bushing kit, part# HP6237, and it has the tailshaft bushing you're looking for. I'm not sure if that's the bushing they're still putting in those kits, because I've had this a while. Most front pump and larger case bushing are still the 'babbit' material, so why not the ext, hsg. bushing? I seem to remember the OEM GM parts bushing as the good one also. Hope this helps.

What do you use to hone the bronze type?

Ken

Ken, I'll have to check that out. ....Yes ,all the direct drum bushings and pump bushings I get are babbet, I don't know why not the tailshaft bushing. ......FYI ,a standard PG type yoke measures 1.502"+ -.0005". ...The roller yokes measure 1.4985",I just checked all of the ones I've got in the shop. ....The bronze type bushings in question all measure 1.5015" + - .0005" BEFORE installation. .....I've got an old Sunnen industrial hone I picked up at a flea market that I use to hone them to size......Looks just like a valve guide hone, only larger. .....Tom
