Wheelie Bars & Cal-Tracs

I'm hoping some of you guys can start me in the right direction with a change I'd like to make to my car. My car is a 1966 Fairlane with a 427 FE that runs nostalgia super stock. It weighs around 3,300 lbs. and runs in the 9:40's. I currently run Cal-Trac bars along with their split mono springs and 10.5x30 radial Hoosier slicks. It has been a best of 1.30 in the 60' foot braking.

Last week I just about put the car on the rear bumper. It was great for photos but not much of anything else. I've decided to put wheelie bars on the car mainly for the safety aspect. I was hoping you all could give me some recomendations regarding what bar to use and some tips to dial them in. The car is basically set up like a stocker with a bigger tire.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

We got tired of the bumper scrapers pretty quick also. When asked, John Calvert recommended the AJE bars.

We have only raced with them once and have not got up on them yet.

If you would like some photos PM me your email address.

Good Luck,
Bill Lamb

When I parked my SS/H AMX it had AJE's with Cal-Track bars, springs and AFCO shocks. 10.0's @ 132. Works great. Have you tried stiffer front shock valving (not what was delivered, sending your shocks in for different valving)? That's what I have done with my shocks as I never ran them in the loosest extension valving. The new valving on the front shocks is +3 higher than before at the lowest setting. Car is still in the shop so I can't report on if it really worked. But I'm sure it will.
