Reaction time
I have never raced off of a .400 pro tree before, but will be next year. My reaction seems to be about .250" on a practice tree, my car will 60 ft. around 1.30, and has 28" inch front tires right now. I am allowed to deep stage in the class I will be running, doing that with my current combo, can I cut a decent light with my setup? - if not, will a 26" front tire get me there?
I can put in a trans brake if I need to, but would rather not because of the expense. Thoughts? Thanks |
Re: Reaction time
What class are you thinking about running? Makes a big diff...

Re: Reaction time
Are you using a foot-pedal switch to get the .250 RTs on the practice tree? From what I have seen, most people are slower with their foot than with a finger or thumb.
There are a ton of variables to vehicle reaction time, but basically if it starts moving forward with a minimum of body movement, then you are probably getting a decent vehicle RT. My guess is that if you flicker the top bulb off you will be in the ballpark. If you turn off the top bulb, you are now 7" from turning off the stage bulb (clearing the beams) REGARDLESS of the front tire size. The shorter front tires just give you a shorter distance between turning the stage bulb on (dead shallow) and clearing the beams. |
