supergas front end travel question

I had limiting straps on the from of my car that were made from nylon. They worked great for about a year and then started to stretch. My suspension was set up for about one inch of travel and then it went to 2 inches.
So i changed it and used chains instead.
Now I have more adjustability also.
My question is:
What is the best amount of travel and would no travel be a bad thing?
I wanted to try it with zero travel and see how it worked.

100 views and nobody has any input?
Is this a stupid question to ask?

I have to assume that you are attempting to hit a .400 pro tree, I would adjust til the car goes red or the tires start to spin, without more input , very generic answer.

Scott, I dont think that there is a "right " answer...on my car I have it tied down to about 3/4"...I know some guys that had their's tied down to less than 1/4 inch....but my experience is that the difference between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch in travel wont make a noticable difference....
With my car it was more noticable when I raised or lowered rear tire pressures and leave rpm's...for a .400 tree I try to leave 200 rpm below stall and I have raised tire pressure as much as possible to eliminate sidewall wrap...

Thanks, i guess i need to try different stuff. Thanks for the help, yes, a .400 tree.
I will start at 3/4 to 1 inch and see how that works.

Scott, one more thing to try if you can...if you have any adjustments for your front shocks stiffen them as much as possible, you want the extension as slow as possible..
Another thing that has not seemed to make any difference is tire pressure, anything over 40 lbs didnt make a change....I'm assuming that you have 23 or 24 inch tires, if not see if you can put a short one on it...

Scott,

I never saw your post until today, but do NOT, under ANY circumstances go with 0" of travel. I use a chain also, and did that once to see what it would do, and what it does is bump steer like crazy! With my chain setup, my choices were either 0" or 1" (or more). 1" of travel worked fine, so that's what I ran in the car for years.

Just don't do zero...you won't like it (unless maybe you're a thrill seeker, then maybe you will like it...)
