Throttle Stopping a 700 CI Motor

I'm sure someone out there has some experience throttle stopping a 700 inch motor. I'm looking at doing this and would appreciate any suggestions. I really don't have the exact cam specs but its 11 degree head single carb (don't have a carb yet but will prob be a 1400 cfm APD or Quick Fuel) and makes approx 1300 hp. It's setup for two stages of nitrous but I want something with a little more usability. Would like to run Super Comp, brackets and Top Dragster when I can. I'd say about 80% will be wide open racing with 20% throttle stop racing. I want to stay with my #1 Stop that's why I decided to put a single carb on it. I've played around with inline stops a little and prefer the under carb version, but don't know if this is the right way to go.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Max

Donnie Pedan is running a 737 on a throttle stop, he was running 9.91 at 193 mph. Donnie's website is www.countrymotorsinc.com he is a great guy and helped us with our converter on the car below.

Back in 05 & 06 we had a Haas Monte Carlo with a Schmidt "Hulk" 705 c.i. we never ran a throttle stop but we did run a 7.05 @ 196 on motor at 2450 lbs. and that was with a very conservative tune on the motor.

One thing I learned on working on the big motors is to think conservative and do not take big swings on the tuneup.

Hi Max.. If you are looking for a more performance based style of racing, I would talk to Biondo Racing Products about an inline stop.. when I switched from an inline to an under carb #1 Stop, I lost some mph.. so that may hurt your T/D or bracket performance.. with an inline set up you can also take a look at the 2 four barrel set up.. and you should have no problem setting it up for S/C.. but this is only if you want to go as fast as your combination can go..

I have never run my present combination without the #1 Stop, but I'm sure it affects ET also..

Thanks for the ideas guys. I just posted the motor under classifieds for sale. Came across another great deal (as they say one more good deal and we'll be out of business) that I couldn't pass up. If I don't sell it, I may try and run it with two #1 Stops and try to get them as closely synchronized as possible. If I figure it out I'll be sure to let you know;-)

Thanks again!!

You could always try one of these... Currently on the 673 Sonny's engine in Mike Laws (BLP President) Top Dragster. 6.70's in the 1/4 with one carb N/A. It can be duplicated with a standard bolt pattern billet body, this on has 2.600 throttle blades but can go up to 2.800 on either the spread carb as shown or a standard Dominator pattern. Intake work required for either, if you have a sheet metal a top for either isn't too hard to do.
