Carb question
What list number 1050 Holley dominator carb is the best for trottle stop racing? What list number 1150 Holley dominator carb is the best?

Re: Carb question
Any of the Holley Dominators will need some tuning out of the box, my choice would be either the Ultra 8082 for a 1050 or an Ultra 7320 for an 1150. Both come with external linkage and billet metering blocks and booster insert. All metering passages are threaded to make changes as needed. What are you putting it on?

It will be on a 585 cube Ford in a 2500# 9.90 T-Bird |
Re: Carb question
If you do mostly 9.90 or 1/8 mile racing I'd stick with the smaller carb, the 1190 will probably be just a tad quicker for ET racing in the 1/4.

Re: Carb question
I've got a 1050 on my Thunderbird that was reworked just for throttle stop racing and on the dyno it made more HP than a 1150 that we tried. After jetting and air bleed changes the car has been very dialable and I have been 9.90 at 174.

Re: Carb question
The carb I'm using was origanally built by APD. The biggest problem I had with it when I got it was the idle was inconsistant and didn't seem consistant on the stop. One thing that APD believes in is being lean on the stop and so they do not put an intermidiant air bleed in the carb. I had to go way smaller on the idle air bleed and also put intermediant air bleeds back into the carb. Thats not how they like to see them, but with the vacuum signal thru my heads and intake, their way just didn't work on my car. After the changes, The car picked up quite a bit of HP and became much more consistant. I run a 557 with C460 heads. I just came back from Charlotte, and was consistantly over 170 in very bad air and strong winds. Most every one there was between 2 and 4 mph down from what they normally are able to run

Re: Carb question
What is the difference in the Holley 1050 cfm ultra 8082 and the ultra 8896, and the Holley 1150 cfm ultra 7320 and the ultra 80556? Are either the ultra 8896 and the ultra 80556 any good for Super Gas racing?
