A great hero goes to his just reward.

I was saddened to read about one of this Century great, has past, Neil Armstrong dead at the age of 82 after bypass heart surgery. I feel the pull of time also on my life when I see my heroes leaving this earth. Claude Ruel

Neil Armstrong embodied the dreams , goals and optimism of a generation . The manned space program captivated the public interest in a way the more scientifically productive robotic missions will never do . Neil Armstrong's step onto the Lunar surface was in my opinion the pinacle of a century of a century of exploration and technological and scientific achievement which our species will be hard pressed to duplicate . To paraphrase Dr. Tyson : "Godspeed Neil " .

Seems like it was only yesterday.

Yes, those were the days of American exceptionalism, and optimism. And Neil Amstrong was a true American Hero.

I am angered and saddened that our local newspaper (daily) here has not seen fit to as yet mention the death of Neil Armstrong , in print or on-line updates . Seems modern America thinks a Topless demonstration , the Goombay festival and highschool football is of greater signifigance than the death of the first man to set foot on the moon . A sad commentary on our society .
