Re: E85

I switched my big block nova over early this season. It didnt go any faster or slower, stayed the same, consisncy is good, but it allways was good. I bought a whole drum of fuel at $2.81 a gallon though. So I am glad I made the switch. I put a quick fuels e85 kit in mine. Have $300 in, it. well worth it. I have heard that Shipps run it in their cars also, and they are obviously pretty sucessful.
I have heard that its not very good with 13.1 or more compression. Yellowbullet.com has a huge thread about it, many people run it and all love it. Go for it

Billy, how much fuel pressure do you use?

Re: E85

Same as I used for gas , as much as I can without it dripping . Its usually fine at 9 psi . Also I used the same kit as you did , Quick Fuel .

Re: E85

so no mods need to be done with the main body besides what they give you in the kit? If I run 92 jets squared, what should I start with on E85? How is it on the throttle stop?

Re: E85

Been running E85 for a wile and did my own carb. Be careful with the QF kits as the metering blocks do not have a main well that big enough for a large motor..
With my 540 I have picked up almost .07 and 2 mph and cut my short times by .02...
I was running 94 jets with gas and now running 164 alky jets with E85.
There is more than just throwing the QF kit at it and seems that it likes less emulsion and smaller holes and also it works better with a 2 circuit carb conversion IMO...
Spark plugs are hard to read so be careful.. Price and the cooling effect is all a plus as in the heat of the summer here in NJ I would have 200+* after a run and a extended cool down time now it rarely gets above 190*..This is a plug with a lot of runs on it..

Re: E85

Wow ! I ran 94 jets with gas and run 102 with E-85 . I just bolted the Quick Fuel kit on and was happy with the results . Every car I have done it to has picked up at least a tenth in the eighth mile over gasoline. I run it in a 632 and a 555 .
