U/SA Ford Converters..

2 Attachment(s)
This is the first one done , of several ordered for the 302 2V NHRA gift combo..
This one to be tested in January, hopefully

I got a few lbs out of it by cutting away most of the mounting ring..Down to 17 lbs now
I think I can get another lb. or two out by thinning down the tabs some more, and the pilot plate, on the next batch..

It's gonna blow the budget, but I guess if I wanna be semi competitve I'm gonna have to pony up and get one huh? My luck I don't and another 302 will show up at the Divisional and send me packing...it may be a budget car, but that doesn't mean I wanna be cannon fodder...

Marty, That's an Opel style 8" reproduced with all new parts.

I don't believe a 7 inch would work in this application..Not enough rpm's due to the 2bbl restriction.

Mark, you have a PM.

Mark, how about a 2.3T C4 convertor on an 8 or 7 inch core?

We can go to pm if needed.

Need to know if it's carbed or EFI.
I have built several of the small bolt pattern 4 cyl converters.
There's a possibility of a 7 " working in a turbo car, in that you could get the rpm's higher on the line and leave with more boost.
The trade off would be on the other end, of course.
Maybe backing off one number on the gear ratio would bring the mph back
You know that the smaller the converter, the higher the price though...
You'd have to do the testing now
I never got around to it with mine, but I did kick it around a bit in my mind.

I am nearing the testing phase of a 75 Maverick with Mark's converter. Wondering if anyone is willing to share incrementals of a U/SA for baseline.
I don't know how the converter will work, but the service has been great.

Mike,
Mark has plenty of U/SA experience. He can tell you what they could be. Of course a lot of things affect your incremental times besides the torque converter.
