TH350 Question
 

On a TH350. If you were to kill the engine after the finish line and then put it in neutral would it hurt the transmission? I know unless you have clean neutral you cannot just shift it to neutral or it will do damage. What I am wondering is since the output shaft is still turning but the pump would not be would damage it.

Rob, you need Rossler's (or somebodies) Clean Neutral feature. Takes a different shifter also. I learned this the hard way. Never put it in neutral in shut-down without it. Got away with it a couple of times, then it bit me.

What about Killing the engine but leaving it in gear? Or would that do the same thing as going to neutral with engine running?

Don't know about that one. I wouldn't do that myself. What Carl Rossler told me when I messed mine up was "Multiply your engine RPM by your first gear ratio, that is how fast that drum spins up to when you put in neutral in the lights."

As soon as you shut off the engine, the pump stops turning and all the clutches disengage. The safe neutral valve bodies keep the high gear clutches applied so everything in the gear train is turning the same speed as long as you don't shut off the engine.

TCI and Turbo Action forward pattern valve bodys can be nutraled and does not hold the clutches on. I just changed over from TCI to TA and called and asked if i could nutral it and the answer was absoutely yes.

Rossler has that as well as ProTrans. My Rossler was bought used, and did not have "clean neutral".
