Lifters

What brand of lifter is everyone using in there 350 superstock motors. I have 45 used comp lifters, should I send them back to get rebuilt?

Comp has a very good rebuilding program, I use it for several customers.

Comp also has a new Sportsman series, which falls between the Endur-X series and the Elite series, and is available with roller bearings or a solid bushing style bearing.

One of the best things you can do is upgrade to the 0.904" diameter lifters, if you're still running 0.842" diameter lifters.

Morel with high pressure pin oil. Very nice lifter you can get them from Bullet I have run the rebuilt comps with good luck too.

The Crower bushed lifters are very nice, not cheap though. Then again when those needle bearings fail that extra money will be very well spent.

See if those Comp's can be rebuilt with the bushings.

As far as I know, Comp will not change a lifter with roller bearings to the sleeve bearing. And the only lifter they have listed with the sleeve bearing as an option is the Sportsman series.

Re: Lifters

I had .842 needle-bearing Crowers in my 327 SS motor and sent them back to have them retrofitted to bushings. When they do that, they also make them HIPPO. You end up with what you would have purchased for $1100 in the first place. Cost for the upgrade was $500. Also, I completely agree with the gentleman that suggests going to .904 diameter lifters. In a very high RPM engine (like a 283, 327 or even 350), .842 lifters just don't seem to live. Go to bushed .904s or .937s and lifter failures go away.
