Class racing at Clay City ( KY) Mt. Park Dragway soon ??
 

I was reading this article about Scotty Richardson leasing the MPD starting in 2017.

I couldn't help but wonder if maybe we might see some form of class racing coming soon seeing as how he is a class racer.

Sure would be nice :)

The article says that MPD is 1/8th mile but it actually is 1/4 mile, but they run brackets in 1/8th mile tho.

If fact I ran my fastest 1/4 mile mph ever at that track in my 4 cyl. Turbo Coupe Stocker.

I raced at MPD a few times. When the schedule came out, I was hoping to see that it would get added back to the IHRA Sportsman Championship this year. Maybe in the future.

Scotty occasionally races stock but IMO not so often that he would be inclined to put on a Combo series, especially not with a 'premium' combo series being held 3 hours away in Bowling Green. That said I raced my 10.90 car there a couple of times and really liked the track.

Mountain Park is my home track.. Who knows what Scotty has up his sleeve.. Mp is a great track with PLENTY of 1/4 shutdown.. When the Sipples had it Doc often made 1/4 mile runs with his Top fuel car..

Hopefully Scotty can get the potential out of the place.. its in a great spot..

I like that track.

Last year was the only time I have ever bracket raced against a motorcycle. That was an interesting experience running my 12 sec. stocker against a 9 sec. bike.
Not sure if Scotty's track insurance carrier will allow that next year tho. Most tracks don't allow it.

I also agree that it is in a great spot and easy to get to now that the new off ramp next to the track has been completed.

I still consider it my home track and still my favorite place to go.
Hope Scotty does well.
