Using the very helpful site that Dwight has provided, I have a question regarding piston compression height. As an example one of the listed repl. pistons for a 1969 Chevy 350/300 is the TRW L2256F. TRW lists the compression height @ 1.563 " however the NHRA tech spec is 1.535". I am missing something ?

No,only that you are good by .002 on that part of the side
You can still get the desired Deck clearance!

NHRA lists the minimum accepted pin height. Most replacement pistons will exceed this dimension but still give you room to deck the block.
