Transmission Blues
Well we got 5 and 3/4 runs on the new trans lost 3rd and rev, how many runs can you get from a 200. Has anyone had troubles with the case? We are not making any kind of power yet would like go to some races. This thing is a royal pain in the butt. Tom

Re: Transmission Blues
I have been running Turbo Action 200’s for almost 20 years. I personally broke my first one the first day I tested the car- totally my fault. That was my first, last and only failure. The transmissions that I have gotten from Paul have been without a doubt the most reliable and cost effective race car parts I have ever bought! If you’re having 200 problems it’s the supplier not the trans design.
Thanks Paul! |
Re: Transmission Blues
The Direct Clutch (3rd Gear) is also used for Reverse . That is a pretty reliable clutch on a 200 so there might be a leak in the circuit . Paul Forte at Turbo Action has a lot of experience with the 200 . If you take the transmission to your local guy , please post what went wrong with it .

Re: Transmission Blues
Stock TH 200 case? Do you have a brace? What transmission mount?, Scott McClay recommends a rubber mount , not a solid mount. My TH 200 is very dependable. 200 plus runs. Change the fluid every 3-4 races .

Re: Transmission Blues
Outside of a leak in the direct clutch circuit, clutch timing is the biggest issue with repeat direct clutch issues.
Turbo Action valve bodies feed the second gear servo apply side in both 2nd and 3rd. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd, the direct clutch oil must work against the intermediate servo pressure and push the servo back off, all while it's pushing the direct clutch on. If the timing is off, the band wins since it's already applied and burns the direct clutches. I've seen this actually lock the wheels when the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd. |
Re: Transmission Blues
I run a Remac Transmission and have had 175 trouble free passes. Id be curious what everyone else is running? I hear lots of horror stories about some of the biggest names and others. How many runs is everyone else getting?

Re: Transmission Blues
I have had zero issues with the 4 different cars that I have either owned or driven for friends. My first 200 was in my Camaro when it was a bracket car, running 10.3s-10.4s. I would double enter somewhat regularly and put 150 to 200 runs on it each year. No auto 1-2 or e-shift, just full manual valve body. The other 3 cars, 1970 Camaro, 1969 Nova, and 2000 Pontiac Firebird, all had 200's in them with zero issues. All parts came from Remac.
