Looking for Headers AS/A Camaro

Hey fellow racers, I have a buddy with a 69 427 camaro, and he is thinking about replacing his headers with something from stahl or lemons or possibly something else. His car currently has 2" hookers on it, and wants something either same size or in a step design.
What do you guys recommend, and does anybody have anything for sale? Probably not ging to go with stainless unless he can find them used,, way to much money for him.

thanks,
Kirk

We have a set of Stahls, they're 2" to 2 1/8" steps, with the long collectors. They picked the car up from the 2 1/8" Hookers, they fit perfect, they're easy to install, they clear everything, and I can change the spark plugs while standing straight up, without any hassles or trick tools. The other thing you get is Jere's support. Yes, they're 3X as expensive as Hookers. And worth every penny. Jere also has a set of merge collectors made for the 4/7 swap.

One other thing, Jere has you make a template of your ports so that your headers fit perfectly, his flanges are port matched to the heads.

Yes, there are some headers that may make more HP, including the tri-y headers Calvin Elston builds. Calvin's stuff is $3600. You can get Stahls for less than half that.

Calvin Elston of ElstonHeaders (elstonheaders.com) is the only person to call for Big or Small Blocks.

.13 on a 255/350 SBC and 396/375 BBC came 14 HP, 13 ftlbs tq avg from 6000-7500 on a DTS dyno.

His list of customers is impressive to say the least.

Bill

thanks for the response guys. I see by the other posts in this forum, he isn't the only one researching this. any one else have likes/dislikes with certain brands? I think he has merge collectors now, but is not sure the step design will have much more improvement.

Kirk, Tell your friend with that yellow camaro to save his money on headers. If he pulls that automatic trans. out and puts a stick back in the car he would be way happier with the car.
