👉RECORD BREAKING WEEKEND👈
I'll start with a big "THANK YOU" to all 65 racers that supported us this weekend at GALOT Motorsports Park! That's right, you read that right, 65 cars for our 1st CCRA presented by GBM Land & Construction event of the 2025 season! It might have taken 2 days for us to declare a winner but there were tons of action on the track. Galot had a ton of bracket entries both days on top of our impressive amount of entries so it made for a long 2 days of racing to complete one race but we all prevailed. Saturday was rather chilly with a brisk wind. The action started out with our 1st time run of the season followed up the Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. A member of the Warren Family, Steve Foley collected the first cash prize of the weekend when he ran a 6.161 at 108.46 mph on his 6.16 dial in. There were a total of 9 dead on runs. As mentioned above, we had 65 cars on the property & 62 cars made the 1st round call. Steve Foley once again picked up some cash but not the kind of cash that any racer wants to collect that early. He got the Victory Lane Golf Carts First Round Best Losing Package. He was the eligible bye run for 1st round of competition but with any even # of entries, he matched up against veteran racer, Dan Fletcher. Steve dialed another 6.16 & this time he ran a 6.160 but his .043 RT cost him the first round win. Our action was stopped after 1st round of eliminations on Saturday evening due to cold temps & unsafe race conditions so we would pick up with the laddered 2nd round on Sunday. The Renegade Racing Fuel-Ford?s Fuel South East Master Distributor 2nd Round Best Losing Package went to Tim Sloan. His .066 package wasn't enough to advance to E3. Tim was dialed a 5.97, had a .035 RT & ran a 6.001 @ 103.94 mph. He received a 5 gallon pail of Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants PRO 112+ racing fuel. At 4 cars, there were nothing but Camaros to be seen as it brought Blake Hickman against Don Shuford & Brent Pozzi against Joseph Strickland. Strickland & Shuford would come out on top & would meet up in the finals. In the finals, Joseph had a major advantage at the start but the "newly engaged" Don Shuford came out victorious in a double breakout. Skinny Jenny finally gets to become a bride!!! Joseph was dialed a 7.57, had a .003 RT, & ran a 7.565 @ 90.15 mph. Shuford missed the tree having a .063 RT, ran a 6.466 @ 102.57 mph on his 6.47 dial. On top of his $2500.00 payday, Don also received a Winner's hat sponsored by Phillips Automotive, a large trailer check given by MJ's Custom Printing & Graphics, $250.00 gift certificate to Hippie Headers, $100.00 gift certificate to ATI Performance Products, a certificate for a set of spark plugs from E3 Spark Plugs, 5 gallons of F12 racing fuel courtesy of Fuel Factory, $50.00 Meziere Enterprises gift certificate, $100.00 Altronics Inc gift certificate, $100.00 COMP Cams certificate, & a $100.00 Edelbrock Performance gift certificate. Joseph received a smaller trailer check courtesy of MJ's Custom Printing & Graphics, a $150.00 gift certificate to Hippie Headers, $50.00 ATI Performance Products gift certificate, Fuel Factory F8 5 gallons of racing fuel, 50% off coupon for Zamp Racing, $50.00 certificate from Edelbrock Performance, & a $50.00 certificate from COMP Cams. Mr. Tommy Hussey, showing up late on Saturday afternoon, entering the event without a time run, collected the Dunn Logging Company Paul Bunyan "Best RT" award for his .001 RT in R2. Jaymes Rawlings had issues breaking a flexplate & a starter that sidelined him from action received the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck Award. Keith Bennett showed up to spectate after him & Terri moved to NC in December of last year, found himself a seat in the Camaro B/S owned by Tabitha & Robbie Draughon, collected his 1st ever CCRA winnings after taking out Cooter Williamson in R1 & collecting the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter Award. Cooter was our last winner of CCRA in November 2024 at The Dragway at Coastal Plains Park. The Wisecarver Brothers sponsored Sportsmanship Award went to John Lattimore for his smiling attitude after being put on the trailer by his dad, Mr. Danny, in R3 of competition. Mr. Danny came out of retirement to run this weekend's race & put a .001 RT on John. Charlene's Tax Service "Best Winning Package" went to Dan Fletcher for his round 1 win against Steve Foley. Dan might need to check his gas pedal as there was alot of throttle whacking going on at the top end. He was dialed a 6.08, had a .007 RT, & ran a 6.087 @ 108.61 mph. Andrew Hilling was awarded the Gutters by Design "Mind in the Gutter/Worst RT" for his .641 RT during round 1 of eliminations. Sunday's race was postponed & an announcement of a reschedule date will be coming soon. This will be a completely new race & new entries are welcomed. On behalf of CCRA, Leigh Anne Flynt, Dave & Gloria Ley, & myself Tabitha Moore Draughon, we want to THANK EACH & EVERYONE of you for making this weekend such a huge success!!! |
