(under) 24 seconds on the 24th of May....11 years ago today
On this day 11 years ago ( 5-24-14 ) NHRA Stock Eliminator got it's first 11 second passes with a 4 cylinder.
One wonders when the first 4 cylinder 10 sec. Stocker pass will happen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g1AG7E9QEU |

In October 2015 @ Indy Marty Buth ran the quickest time ever at an NHRA event with a 4 cylinder Stocker with an 11.39.
And oh so close to a 6 second 1/8th mile pass https://scontent-atl3-3.xx.fbcdn.net...WQ&oe=68377840 |

Any idea how fast the quickest 6 cyl has been? Have a feeling it's about to be challenged soon.

Back about 20 years ago, there was a couple that were Pontiac people. Can't remember their name. They had a 89 Trans Am Pace car, which had the turbo 6 in it from the Buick GN. If my memory is correct, they got it in the 10's.

John had the wicked fast 7-second Super Stock Buick GNX, and Marka raced the Trans Am in Stock. I couldn't quite find a 10-second ET on a qualifying sheet;the best I saw was 11.20 from searching old DRC results. Regardless, it was a brutally fast car and would also be my guess for the fastest 6-cylinder stocker. |
