Got it fixed!! Here's what I found: Internally, when the little roller was in the "Park" detent of the rooster comb, the spring-loaded plunger would not fully engage the parking pawl. I modified the "nose" of the plunger so that it would go in farther (about .090) and now appears to be working great. Not sure why this problem came up, all parts seemed to be fine, no cracks or bent pieces. Maybe some mis-matched aftermarket parts? I don't know the full history on this trans.
