Default Re: Oil accumulators

i have the accusump brand ,,i have had it for four years and is worth the insurance ,,i have the electric solenoid and my presure is a little lower at 25 psi,,the instructions say to presurize the container to 15 psi ,what i do is fill the crank case with five quarts and prime the engine,,this will build to about 60-70 psi on the presure gauge on the accummlator (i have mine hooked up to the ignition switch) turn on the ignition and let it fill back in to the pan ,,,not all the way this will bleed out the air pockets,,,add the remaining quarts (3 quarts if you have a 5 quart pan) for a total of 8,,the beauty of this is every time you hit the ignition it primes the engine,,no more dry starts,,and protected in the event of oil not being at the pick up it will supply the pump ,,,you want to mount this as close to the feed point to engine as possible this will help performance of the accusump system ,, keeping line length short
