Re: trailer tires??????
The first thing you need to do is scale the loaded trailer. Many of the car trailers I have seen are marginal at best when it comes to trailer axles and tires. My feeling is that the common 3500# axles and wheels should be thrown in the ditch. For some of us a 5000# axle is merely adequate. The 6,000# axle is getting you somewhere. At least with a 8 bolt hub, wheel and the 16" tire that goes with it you will have some longevity. When I switched to 16"ers on a 6000# axle all (I mean ALL) of my tire issues went away. I now run a commercial Goodyear tire with excellent results. Also remember that your trailer tires age when not in use. Even though the tread looks good the tire structure ages and will fail with time.
