Yep, I seem to recall the Ford Indy engine was 255 cubic inches back then as well. It was developed off the 221 small block (before the 260/289/302 varients). I think the Offies were 183 cubic inches (3L). I think the stock blocks got a bigger engine, like the mid-1950s where Chrysler took the 354 and blew away the Offies. It was outlawed before they got to qualify. They showed their hand too early. Probably Chrysler needs to sandbag a little if they got a killer in the bag. They get outlawed if their stuff is too strong, or handicapped out of contention.
