Re: Bruton Smith's - Bristol Track Condition's
Bristol ?
Pro's:
Great reception at the gate. Great pit spot. Nice Hampton Inn. Wonderful little restaurant in Bristol called the Brooklyn Grill. Mild temperatures. Great deli at the Food Country store on 394. Nice staff in the refreshment center selling decent burgers and bottled soft drinks. Pleasant people in tech, especially Lester. (Lester was also working fuel check
and he pushed the button to get my fuel sample so I didn't have to get my fat *** out of the car). Loved the way one could let their car coast onto the scales. Jim Collins actually smiled when I took a picture of the NHRA crew down at tech/credentials. Got to visit with
some old friends Tom & Mike Callis, Mike Heintz, JG Wilson, Jim Perry, Glen Treadwell, Rick & Dick Hord, Don Fillyaw, Charlie Warren, Bob Marshall, Mike Crutchfield, Jack & Red the track managers, Terry Earwood, John Livingston, Rick Mann, Roy Hill and quite a few more. Met some new folks too, . . . . Brian Martel, Dave Childs, Larry Stott, Troy Coughlin. There was a great guy named Mr. Sinclair at a little hardware store that came
up with a repair link for our winch pulley we needed. Car hooked every pass. All in all it was a great weekend. Got there without having a flat on the trailer or missing a Cracker Barrel for a meal. Won a round, (that's my limit). Stopped in Statesville, NC on the way home for dinner with some other members of the Killer Karolina Korvette Gang (Cracker Barrel of course). Got home without having a flat on the truck or trailer.
Con's:
Had to deal with a leaky electric fuel pump on the race car.
Best of luck to ya'll.
Carl
PS. Hope to see everyone at the LODRS event in Bristol, TN again next year.
