A new windshield is cheap and nothing better than shedding a few pounds and being able to see better too! Plus they will come to you to install. As resourceful as you are, a rotisserie would be a piece of cake! Or make a platform to gain access to the roof. It's nice to see that you are doing all of your own work!
Now is the time to make the car as light as you can possibly get it, then you can place the weight where it makes the car work better.
