You may want to consider a C5 core. It's a later version of the C4 with an improved case. The band adjusters are metric, I believe, with fine threads. It also has better fluid passages. You would need to change the bell housing to a C4 housing since the converters are different. But, they are nice transmissions, and worth a look. I believe that everything else in them is C4 (I can double check for you).
Some builders prefer the C4 by default because from what I can gather they are just used to building them. But, again, there's really no difference between a C4 and C5 other than some case improvements. From what I see the C5 seems to be a better transmission. I'm building a K/SA for my son, and will be using one.
Follow up: There may be some other differences. Going out for the day, but I'll take a closer look when I get back. Nevertheless, you should look into them.
