Default Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015

Well we left the campground at 10 this morning after dumping and filling up with water. Our original plan was to stop at the Flying J, fuel up, get rigs washed at the Blue Beacon and stay there til in the morning. Then we found out that Allen Sherman was staying in the parking lot at Mandalay Bay on the Strip. So we tried to find them and got all turned around and lost, so we heard there were rigs in a lot at the track, so we headed there. It was the same lot that used to have the wild west leave on the morning of parking. So we were about the 8th or so rig there, and 9.10. and 11. So we got out our chairs and poured an evening cocktail when nice Miss Sally from NHRA and the racetrack came by and said we had a choice. We could start out at #101 or go back down the road to the Cannery Casino to their truck parking. So we chose to go gambling! We got parked and went in and had a nice little buffet and played a little and now we are ready for bed!!

I took a few pics on the road today that I will post a little later.

We plan to be at the track at 7:00 am and not a minute earlier or we were told we would have to circle around until 7.

Somehow, NHRA needs to realize that when you drive 1700 miles, you have to allow a little extra time in case there is a problem. As much parking as there is around the facility here, surely one lot somewhere could be made available for early risers.

Seen so far is Brian Cour who is here in this lot where we are along with Billy Nees and Doug Chervanik. Also Pete Peery opted to go ahead and get parked and be # 101 or so.
