The first stocker that ever caught my attention was a 69 Firebird C/SA of Pete and Wolfe Flescher (?) back in the Motion Raceway Days

Yeah, we talked about that Jack Mullins wagon, on the SS thread. We saw him race it, at a points race in Jackson, MS, in '75. I didn't know a Pontiac engine would wind that high, til I heard that 389 screamin. I loved watchin/listening as Jack snatched on the 4-speed. He was my 2nd Pontiac hero, after Truman Fields.
That year, he won the Sports Nats & the US Nats. At the US Nats, he beat the factory Mopar, driven by "Miss Mighty Mopar", Judy Lilly. And, your almost correct. The car had "Turk's Auto Parts" on the rear lower qrts.
I agree that Chris's Bird is awesome. And he's had a good season.
Not familiar with the '69 Bird you mentioned. I suppose the only '69 Bird Stocker I can think of that is racing now, belongs to John Schloe. There are probably others I just don't know about. The '68's have always been popular.
PS: Wish I'd had the money, when your car was up for sale. Sounded like a bargain to me. Seems i remember that the new owner won at least 1 race with it this season.
