I don’t think pressure is your problem. I’ve run that tire for over 20 years and as long as you are not obscenely low or high, it doesn’t really matter.

I personally like 18 psi but that’s based on wear characteristics, not traction.

Tires age might be the problem but depends on how they were stored. I’m a firm believer in radials but the front end needs to work to transfer the weight.
