Re: CCRA Farmington August 24-25
This past weekend we were able to visit the improved Farmington Dragway after their 2023 repairs that didn't allow us to race there last year. This was a special race for the track as it was the Jerry & Norman's Memorial Legends of the Farm #14 Reunion-Gathering-Race-Show event. There was plenty of on track action on Saturday for all race fans. Thank you to Sandy Collins, Mark Joyce, & all of their track staff for having great track conditions all weekend!!!
On Saturday we started out with our one time run, followed by the Warren Engines Dash for Cash. Dell Britt picked up where he left off from the following weekend at GALOT Motorsports Park picking up the first cash award of the weekend. He was dialed a 6.89 and ran a 6.8925 @ 96.42 mph. We had 32 cars make the 1st round call. Our current points leader, Charlie Wisecarver lost out 1st round but he didn't leave empty handed. Although I'm sure he would have rather had the round win. He received the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. He was dialed a 6.29, had a .0208 RT & ran a 6.3328 @ 106.11 mph for a losing 0.0636 package. Mrs. Stacie Ridings doesn't get the chance to race with us much but when she does, she typically leaves with a little something! Stacie received the 2nd Round Best Losing Package courtesy of Ford's Fuel and Propane/ Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants. She was dialed a 6.98, had a .1085 RT, & ran a 6.9813 @ 95.66 mph for a 0.1098 package. She walked away with a 5 gallon pail of Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants PRO 112+ racing fuel. In the semi-finals, Kevin Locklear took the loss to Homer Carty & Hillarey Marshall took the loss to her own dad, Tim. For the finals, we had 2 Super Stock cars line up which doesn't happen too often. Homer Carty got the monkey off his back & came out victorious on Saturday night after Tim Sloan was timed out at the tree. Homer was dialed a 6.21, had a .0525 RT, & ran a 6.1881 at 107.66 to claim the win. We once again were able to pay $2000.00 1st Place, THANKS to our Series Sponsor for 2024, GBM Land and Construction. Homer wanted away with a no split finals as well as a $100.00 gift certificate to Altronics Inc, a can of FOGGIT, a certificate for a set of E3 Ignition spark plugs, $100.00 gift certificate to Crew Chief Pro Software, $100.00 gift certificate to COMP Cams, $100 gift certificate to Edelbrock Performance, & a 5 gallon pail of Fuel Factory F12 racing fuel for this win. Tim, although disgusted in the outcome of the finals, still received his race winnings as well a $50.00 gift certificate to Portatree Timing Systems, a certificate for a set of E3 Ignition spark plugs, $50.00 gift certificate to COMP Cams, $50.00 gift certificate to Edelbrock Performance, & a 5 gallon pail of Fuel Factory F8 racing fuel.
The Paul Bunyan Best Reaction Time award sponsored by Dunn Logging Company went to Tim Sloan for his .0000 RT in the Semi's against non other than his daughter, Hillarey. He received a cash prize for that but also received $100.00 Cash from Farmington Dragway for his superb reaction time. Don Shuford raced with us for the first time this season as he was preparing for his trip to the 70th Anniversary Toyota NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis later this week. Unfortunately he suffered parts failure right before pulling into the waterbox for E1. He was given The McLawhorn Hard Luck award. Homer Carty won the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter award after taking out GALOT Motorsports Park race winner Kevin Locklear. Dennis Pope helped work on Don's Camaro to get him back going for Sunday & was given The Wisecarver Brothers Racing sponsored Sportsmanship Award. Scotty Galyean won the Performance Sealing and Striping Best Winning Package for his R1 win. He was dialed a 6.96 dial, had a .0012 RT, & ran a 6.9889 @ 95.95 mph for a 0.0301 package. Brodie McKee, still learning the ropes of his Chevy Camaro powered by a G-Force Transmissions, received the Gutters by Design "Mind in the Gutter/Worst RT for his .2441 RT during R1 but still picked up the round win. We were able to complete our Saturday race about 11:15 p.m.
