Default Re: Stock Eliminator NHRA accepted pistons.

There was a valve spring rule in Stock, for decades.

Given the restrictions in the valve train in most Stock engines, and that the cam lobes haven't been redesigned (Comp sent Billy Godbold to a "contract as needed" position before he could rework them) in years, maybe decades, the advances in lobe design in NASCAR and the pro categories don't really apply to Stock. Billy was going to redesign his "fast" lobes to have his new "soft" ramps, and correct some other issues. We spoke at length. He never got the chance. I doubt Comp would pay him to do it now. The vast majority of cam companies don't even want to buy the cores anymore, and CWC doesn't want to make them.

It is interesting though, a bunch of lifter companies are making flat tappets with better materials and expensive coatings.
