Default Re: CCRA Race #3 & #4-Coastal Plains Dragway

Saturday was a scorching hot day but we were all prepared & made the absolute best out of a not so desirable day!!! SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR RACERS THAT SURVIVED THE HEAT WITH US AS WELL AS The Dragway at Coastal Plains Park STAFF & MR. RONNIE HUMPHREY!!!

We started race #1 around 9:50ish a.m. & completed it at 2:15 p.m. We started Dash for Cash a little after 6 p.m. for race #2 & was taking Winner Circle photos at 11:15 p.m. It was a long day but WE MADE IT!! Our entire team was overly prepared with coolers/bottles of water, Gatorade, energy drinks, swimming pool & Pedialyte popsicles (which I think was a huge hit)!!!

We started out on Saturday morning for race #1 with our normal time run, followed by our Warren Engines Dash for Cash. Blake Hickman started out the day collecting the first $100.00 of the day. He was dialed a 7.21 & ran a 7.211 at 91.46 mph. We had 30 cars on property with 28 of them making the 1st round call. Joseph Strickland received the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. He was dialed a 7.5 dial, had a .084 RT, & ran a 7.540 at 87.80 mph. Joe Huestis picked up the 5 gallons of Renegade Racing Fuel-Ford?s Fuel South East Master Distributor PRO 112+ fuel for his 2nd Round Best Losing Package. He had a .081 RT, ran a 8.868 at 73.89 mph on his 8.85 dial. It was all Chevrolet vehicles left at 4 cars with 2 of them being Camaros & 2 being Chevy II's. Charlie Wisecarver went red to Blake Hickman & Kelsey Alexander was off her dial against Homer Carty. It was over at the hit in the finals as Hickman lit the red bulb by .044, then ran a 7.208 at 91.81 mph on his 7.22 dial. Carty would pick up his 1st win since having a major eye surgery a couple of months ago so I'd say the surgery was a success! Homer was dialed a 6.62, had a .034 RT, & ran a 6.616 at 99.84 mph picking up his 1st win of the season. Carty picked up the Winner's hat sponsored by Phillips Automotive, a large trailer check from MJ's Custom Printing & Graphics, $250.00 gift certificate for Hippie Headers, $100.00 gift certificate to ATI Performance Products, a certificate for a set of spark plugs from E3 Spark Plugs, 5 gallons of F12 racing fuel courtesy of Fuel Factory, $50.00 Meziere Enterprises gift certificate, $100.00 Altronics Inc gift certificate, $100.00 Edelbrock Performance gift certificate, & a $100.00 COMP Cams gift certificate. Hickman picked up a smaller trailer check designed by MJ's Custom Printing, a $150.00 Hippie Headers gift certificate, $50.00 ATI Performance Products gift certificate, a 5 gallon pail of F8 Fuel Factory fuel, 50% coupon from Zamp Racing, $50.00 gift certificate from COMP Cams, & a $50.00 gift certificate from Edelbrock Performance.

Blake's winnings didn't end there. He also won the Dunn Logging Company, The Paul Bunyan "Best Reaction Time" award, for his .001 RT in E4 & Best Winning Package sponsored by Charlene's Tax Service during the same round. Along with his .001 RT in E4 (Semi's), he ran a 7.211 at 91.66 mph on his 7.21 dial when his opponent, Charlie Wisecarver went red. Jim Reynolds suffered breakage after his 1st run & was unable to compete. He was given the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck award. Corbitt Marshburn picked up the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter award taking out GALOT Motorsports Park runner-up Joseph Strickland during R1. The Wisecarver Brothers Racing Sportsmanship award was given to Dennis Pope. Anyone who knows Dennis, knows he goes out of his way to help his fellow racers in any situation. Dallas Locklear was awarded the Gutters by Design "Mind in the Gutter" for his .267 RT during round 1 of eliminations.
