I'm not familiar with FI cars, but I suppose it could still have a "flat spot" at the hit if the fuel curve isn't correct. Kind of like having an accelerator pump squirter that is way off on size and/or duration.

Off hand, I can't imagine a converter affecting RT's that much.

As an experiment, perhaps you can compare yourself to someone else in another car or practice tree to see how much of a variable you might be. Just trying to cover all the bases.
