I have installed the Max Speed carbs on 5 different cars. I also have them on two of my own cars and have never seen this. I'm sure you've already checked the basics:
Is anything binding?
Is it hitting a SLE?
Good CO2 bottle pressure?
I wouldn't hesitate to call the guys at APD. I bet I've made a dozen calls there with some really dumb questions, and they've always been great to work with.
